About the Role

We lead fun, structured learning sessions for students in grades 3rd–12th, using the iFuntology curriculum and enrichment tools. Teachers support students in developing practical skills and professional habits before licensure and before entering the workforce.

You may teach one or more of the following program areas:

  • Funtology (Beauty Industry Career Exploration)
  • Barbertology
  • Nailtology
  • Skintology
  • iFuntology: Write to Read (Literacy + Writing + Publishing)

Key Responsibilities

As an Out of School Teacher, you may be responsible for:

  • Leading classes with professionalism and positivity
  • Supporting students through hands-on learning and guided practice
  • Teaching sanitation, safety, and proper tool usage
  • Managing classroom behavior and creating a respectful learning space
  • Following lesson plans and completing student progress check-ins
  • Communicating with site staff, parents, and program leadership
  • Encouraging leadership, confidence, and career readiness
  • Participating in training and professional development as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Experience working with youth (classroom, afterschool, mentoring, coaching, etc.)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Teaching certification or education background
  • Cosmetology / Barber / Nail / Esthetics license
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Experience teaching hands-on skill-based lessons
  • Experience in salon or beauty industry environments

Schedule & Work Expectations

Afterschool schedules vary by location. Most sessions occur:

  • Monday–Friday (after school hours)
  • Typical hours: 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Some sites may offer weekend events, showcases, or parent nights

Applicants may select availability and preferred program sites during this application.

Training & Onboarding

Selected applicants may be required to complete:

  • Program orientation and teaching expectations
  • Safety, sanitation, and classroom procedures
  • Lesson delivery training and curriculum overview
  • Reporting and student evaluation process
